Travel information
The nearest airports are Edinburgh and
Glasgow. There is also Prestwick International Airport, which is about 1 hours
drive south of Glasgow. The nearest train station to Fortingall is Pitlochry
(23 miles distance) and the closest bus station is Aberfeldy (8 miles from
Fortingall and 15 miles from Pitlochry).
Edinburgh
to Aberfeldy
From Edinburgh Airport you will need to take a shuttle bus
(no. 100) from the Airport Terminal (service runs every 10 mins - journey
time about 20 mins) to Haymarket (for train station) or Charlotte Square (for
bus station).
Trains from Edinburgh:
From Haymarket train station you will need to take a train to Pitlochry
(our nearest train station). Trains run about every two hours to Pitlochry
(journey time about 1hr 30mins). From there
you will need to take a bus to Aberfeldy but the service is infrequent (journey
time 30-40 minutes). Taxis are also available (see below). Transport
by bus and postbus is also available from Aberfeldy to Fortingall but the
service is very infrequent and some only run during term time. There is no
service available on a Sunday. We recommend that you check with local bus
companies before travelling (see bus section below).
Buses from Edinburgh: Buses run from Charlotte
Square bus station. The best route to Aberfeldy is via Perth.
The service runs hourly from 8.55am to 4.55pm
to Perth, other times less frequently (journey time between 1hr 10mins and
1hr 30mins). Buses from Perth to Aberfeldy are less frequent, only 8 buses
a day (journey time approx. 1 hr 15m). We recommend you
check with Traveline Scotland (see below). Transport by bus and postbus
is also available from Aberfeldy to Fortingall but the service is very infrequent
and some only run during term time. There is no service available on a Sunday.

Glasgow
to Aberfeldy
From Glasgow Airport
(west of Glasgow city centre) you will need to take a shuttle bus from the
airport terminal (frequent service - journey time 25 mins) to Glasgow City
centre, alighting at Queen Street station for transport by train to Pitlochry
(our nearest train station) or Buchanan Bus station for the bus service.
From Prestwick International airport (about one hour's drive south of Glasgow) you will need to take a train or bus (both half hourly services) to Glasgow city centre. Train journey time: approximately 45 mins. Bus journey time: approximately 45 mins via the X77 Express, (all other buses take 1hr 27mins.). Bus times and costs, available from Stagecoach (01292 613500). The bus will take you to Cannon Street which is a 6-8 minutes walk (or you can get a taxi) to Queen Street station for trains to Pitlochry (our nearest train station). The train will take you to Central train station but you will need to either walk (12 mins) or get a bus or taxi to Queen Street train station for trains to Pitlochry.

Glasgow: Trains run from Queen Street station
to Pitlochry (our nearest train station).
There are three direct services a day to Pitlochry (journey time 1hr 40mins),
otherwise you will need to change in Perth (journey time is 1hr 45mins). Buses
are available from Pitlochry to Aberfeldy but are infrequent. Journey time
30 - 40 minutes. Taxis are also available (see below). Transport
by bus and postbus is also available from Aberfeldy to Fortingall but the
service is very infrequent and some only run during term time. There is no
service available on a Sunday. We recommend that you check with local bus
