St. Mary's Church, Grandtully

© copyright Barry Dunford

The illustration above depicts part of an extraordinary heraldic painted mural (c.1636) which is to be found on the ceiling of St. Mary's Church, Grandtully, 12 miles east of Fortingall. Does it portray a Grail Knight? It features two prominent grail symbols, a chalice, and a stone (containing a book) which is suspended between the hands of the Grail Knight. The overall mural suggests that this may have been a Grail chapel.
